Hailing originally from southern Minnesota, Dan Grimm is a singer/songwriter currently living in Phoenix, AZ. He came from a musical family, obtaining his singing voice from both his father, Jerry and Grandfather George. His guitar and harmonica skills also derive from his grandfather, who for many years, played live for family gatherings and in local venues during the 1940s through the 1970s, expressing the simple joy of music through traditional songs and popular music at the time.
It was only natural for Dan to follow in his family’s footsteps. He watched his father and grandfather in awe since he was a child.
After moving to Illinois from Minnesota at age 15, he continued his musical interests and talents all through high school. It was here he starting exploring the artistic realm of songwriting.
After graduating high school, he attended Western Illinois University, graduating with a degree in journalism with a minor in music business. Originally at the time keeping interests and wanting to pursue a career in the music business field, Dan eventually thought, “I’d rather play and make music now than to promote and play music for someone else in the future.”
In the summer of 2007, with only a one way plane ticket and a suitcase, Dan took a guitar and a few harmonicas in his pockets and headed West.
“Looking Down the Avenues” is Dan’s first solo album recorded and released in 2009. It spans several years in his songwriting collection, written about life, love, loss and his adventures throughout college, even reaching back to the earlier years.
Sounds of inspiration from Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and James Taylor are just a few among the many artists that can be heard in this true troubadour’s songs that hit home anywhere it may be and are genuinely true to life.
Dan is currently working on his second album to be released early 2016.
Whether you’re hosting a small backyard BBQ, ladies night at a local bar or a black tie wedding reception, Dan is your man
